Recap: design thinking for sustainable innovation in healthcare
May 16th from 15:00 to 20:00
On Thursday, May 16, we organized an event together with Impact Stewards on the use of design thinking to accelerate sustainable innovation in healthcare. We look back on an interactive evening with a diverse group of leaders from various organizations, including hospitals, elderly care organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and health insurers. The attendees experienced this mix of perspectives as educational and inspiring.
Design thinking in healthcare
The challenges in healthcare are significant. How do we keep healthcare accessible and affordable? And how do we work towards sustainability? How do we anticipate the aging population, where we will have to care for more people with fewer resources? Technological innovations can offer solutions, but how do we ensure that these actually provide value? Together with the attendees, we explored these questions and discovered how design thinking can help.
The program
The evening consisted of a mix of practical learning experiences and a workshop. Bjorn Stolte from Handpicked kicked things off, introducing participants to the basics of design thinking and how to effectively use it for innovation. Daniël Brouwer from Impact Stewards discussed the theory and practice of value-driven healthcare. Guest speaker Hans Nooteboom shared his experiences with the development of Philips HealthSuite Labs, where design thinking played a major role. Finally, Marlies de Gooijer from Handpicked agency Norday (formerly IN10 and GRRR) shared lessons from their collaboration with Thebe.
In this case for Thebe, you can see how we apply design thinking in practice.
